Internal Communications Manager

Ecclesiastical Insurance Group

Reporting to the head of internal communications, the purpose of this role is to develop and deliver internal communications to inform and engage employees, using a variety of internal communication channels.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide advice to business stakeholders on how best to meet their internal communication requirements, working with them to develop and deliver communication plans to support internal changes, campaigns, BAU, projects and initiatives across the company
  • Build and maintain a strong network of good working relationships with key contacts across the Group including senior stakeholders and communications colleagues in each business area
  • Create clear and compelling communication collateral including key messages, emails and news stories, visuals, film, speeches and presentations, using external suppliers where appropriate
  • Co-ordinate the creation and publication of regular communications such as the weekly news roundup
  • Develop a regular flow of engaging intranet news stories and work with content owners to ensure other intranet content remains up to date, accurate and relevant.
  • Use employee feedback and intranet analytics to advise ongoing channel development and communication plans
  • Work with the Head of Internal Communication to create and deliver the Internal Communication strategy and plan
  • Help plan and deliver employee events in conjunction with the events team and Head of Internal Communication
  • Keep abreast of internal communication industry changes and make recommendations for development of new approaches and channels that make internal communication more effective
  • Ensure internally published communications align with external communications, are factually correct, follow internal standards, and meet legal and regulatory requirements

  • Publication of scheduled communications to required standards

  • Feedback from internal stakeholders

Key skills and experience

  • An experienced internal communication practitioner with experience of working in highly regulated businesses, ideally in financial services
  • Strong written communication skills, capable of adapting writing styles for different audiences and channels
  • Experience of developing and implementing internal communication plans and strategies and measuring their effectiveness
  • Ability to give advice with confidence and authority to business stakeholders of all levels
  • Experience of successfully managing complex projects, involving multiple stakeholders, from start to finish
  • Experience of managing regular employee publications
  • Knowledge of content management systems and intranet management, working with intranet contributors without line responsibility
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • A flexible approach to working, comfortable navigating through ambiguity and adjusting priorities to meet business needs
